"When I was young, I used to admire intelligent people; as I grow older, I admire kind people" ~Abraham Joshua Heschel

Our Instagram pals @artofbryce, @joordanrenee, @thewildtraveler and @corinaesquivel are still wandering the trails around Vancouver. And they recently explored the glacial waters of Joffre Lakes Provincial Park.

Oh, to dive into those electric-hued waters… Show us your favorite adventure spots by tagging your photos with #OurFavoriteTrail and #GetOutThere.

Two suggestions I made to friends lately in connection with writer's block and a third I like to tell myself. →

1. If you feel like there are things in the way of you getting your writing done, make a list of those things. Then see which of them are physically tangible (a family member who needs your help, for example, or long hours at your day job) and which of those things are emotional or…

We have this myth of identity — that who we are is the summation of a lot of choices we made in the past. That we’ve got a map for the life we’re supposed to lead, and we’ve got to stick to it. But that’s assuming that we’re all static beings, and that’s not how people work at all.

In every moment, we’re changing and evolving and growing. In every moment, we’re reconstructing our identity. We’re not defined by our decisions from two years ago. We’re not even defined by our decisions from two minutes ago. We’re defined by who we choose to be in this very moment. We’ll never be “figured out.” Over the course of our lives, we’ll constantly be transforming into a more and more authentic version of ourselves. Our preferences will change. Our passions will change. And we have to be brave enough to choose the thing that makes up happiest in each individual moment.

"Wake up early. Drink coffee. Work hard. Be ambitious. Keep your priorities straight, your mind right and your head up. Do well, live well and dress really well. Do what you love, love what you do. It is time to start living."

I have the mind of a child
Asking, why is 2 + 3 always equal to 5?
Where do people go to when they die?
What made the beauty of the moon?
And the beauty of the sea?
Did that beauty make you?
Did that beauty make me?
Will that make me something?
Will I be something?
Am I something?

And the answer comes: you already are, you always, always were, and you still have time to be.

"If you’re feeling small today I dare you to sit up straighter, look someone who scares you directly in the eye, take up room at the dinner table, make yourself bigger, when ‘sorry’ laps at the back of your tongue, tries to pick up after you, remind yourself that your existence doesn’t demand an apology, that you are allowed to make mess and take up space. Do not be afraid to expand. Every single goddamn minute. Expand, expand, expand."
